So my brother's team lost a heartbreaker to a hated rival last week. My brother NEVER cries, and I could see them welling up after the game Saturday. They weren't "look at me, feel sorry for me tears." They were fight-for-perfection "I can't believe we let the seniors down" kind of tears. He is the kind of guy that will lay it all out for his teammates and has the kind of work ethic every coach dreams of. They have homecoming tonight and he's not going because he figures he'll be too tired after the game. Some people might be concerned by that kind of attitude in a kid that won't even be 17 for another 11 days. But he's doing what he loves to do, so I think it's freaking awesome!
The Dawgs, as I mentioned lost a tough one last week, but it shouldn't hurt them. Their loss was against a highly ranked school in a larger class. They should run right through their district with ease. They lost two games in the regular season last year and came a posession away from defeating the eventual state champions in the semi-finals. And I think they're better this year. My brother thinks a state title is a possibility if they continue to bust ass. You can check out their district standings right now at

Wayne State Football game
09.15.03 (9:51 am) [edit]
I get to do play-by-play Saturday! I'm pumped. I hope my color man is prepared and not nervous. It should be a quality game. I'm looking forward to that. Then I'll probably catch my brother's game. They have a HUGE game Saturday night. Probably their biggest rival. I don't necessarily like going back this many times. But I like watching the big guy play.

FOOTBALL!!!
09.15.03 (9:47 am) [edit]
I enjoy football, and that was a good thing this weekend. I got to see lots of it. I enjoy football even more when I'm watching my younger brother play it. I call him my "younger" brother because I cannot call him my little brother anymore. The kid's 6-3 240 and could kick the living crap out of me. He's still 16 for another few weeks too. I drove 95 mph so I could get to Auburn in time to see a good portion of the game. Not safe, but I love watching the kid play. Oh yeah, he and his team won 48-7 against a rival school that is larger than them.
Then I watched the Nebraska-Penn State game with Tony (my brother) and my dad on Saturday, and went to the Chiefs' game for my b-day on Sunday. Lots and lots of football. Lots and lots of fun!
